Red onion of Tropea

Sweet enough to eat raw.

Red outside and white inside, it grows in the sandy soil near the sea. It is sweet and crunchy, and you know it by the braids hanging outside the shops.

How to eat it

Raw in salad, as marmalade with cheese, even in ice cream.
